Having your cake and eating it too!

There’s an old saying, “You can’t have your cake, and eat it too!”, I have always thought there was something a little amiss about this statement. Why can’t i have my cake and eat it too? Why can’t i work my ass off and enjoy the benefits of my hard work? Why can’t i build an empire and enjoy the spoils?

I know i know, there is always a small seed in the back of your mind that is telling you ‘you can’t do that, or ‘you’re not good enough for this’! and let me tell you- we have all been there.. we all have that little voice in your head telling you you aren’t good enough, but screw it! If there is one thing i have learnt from starting my little biz- it’s that if you do a great job, there will always be someone out there who will want what you have made. Even if you don't believe in yourself- chances are someone out there does.

Often i think to myself, ‘you’re just a small fish in a big pond’- and you’re right, i am! There are thousands of bakers, chefs, sweet extraordinaires out there, who all probably do a much better job than I - but then I remind myself just how big this pond actually is, and how many fisherman there are out there.

There will always be someone who doesn’t have the skill, talent or time to create the pieces I do. Therefore there will always be a market for them. These customers will become loyal customers if you deliver an exceptional service. This is why I love going that little extra mile for each one of my orders.

Each order I receive helps me to bring my creativity to life, and not to mention some times puts food on my table.

So my last words for anyone wanting to take the plunge into the world of the unknown- be that in business, fun, or even just as a hobby. DO it! You will never know your potential unless you truly give it a go.
